Oppo’s Find X series has long flirted with boundary-pushing camera tech, but this year the company seems to be tightening its focus. A fresh leak from tipster Digital Chat Station suggests the Find X9 Ultra will be the only model in the lineup powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. That alone signals a shift toward a more exclusive Ultra, one that stands distinctly apart from its siblings rather than merely topping them.

But the real intrigue lies in the cameras, of course. The leak points to a dual periscope telephoto setup, a rarity even in the most premium flagships. Oppo experimented with the formula in last year’s Oppo Find X8 Ultra, and even extended it to the X8 Pro, offering two different zoom ranges for more flexibility. For 2025, though, the brand seems to be reserving this optical extravagance for the Ultra alone, effectively doubling down on zoom versatility while trimming the range’s overlap.
If true, that means the Find X9 Ultra could be one of the few phones next year capable of covering ultra-wide to extreme zoom without relying on digital cropping. It’s a camera-first strategy that feels deliberate, almost like Oppo is reshaping the “Ultra” badge to stand for optical ambition rather than just higher specs.
A 200MP leap in detail
The Find X9 Ultra’s main camera is said to feature Sony’s 200MP IMX09E (LYT990) sensor, a part also rumoured for the Xiaomi 16 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra. On paper, it promises major gains in texture and tone, aided by pixel-binning and better light capture.
Combined with Oppo’s image processing and colour science tuned through its partnership with Hasselblad, the setup could deliver stronger results across daylight and low-light conditions alike.
This leak confirms that Oppo’s going all-in on making the Ultra feel ultra again. If the dual-periscope setup and 200-megapixel sensor make it to production, the Find X9 Ultra could end up being not just another spec monster, but a genuine contender for 2025’s best smartphone camera.
