When we first took the Oppo K14 5G out of the box for our review, we thought it was just another budget phone trying to win you over with specifications. But the K14 5G is much more than that.

It is trying to be an all-rounder at a price point where others are in a spec war. So, has this new Oppo phone succeeded in its attempt to be an all-rounder on a budget? Well, after more than a week’s usage, we have a lot to say in our detailed Oppo K14 15G review.

Oppo K14 5G review: Design

The Oppo K14 5G boasts a clean yet familiar look, and honestly, that’s something that works. While the entire back panel is mostly minimal, there are subtle diamond-like patterns towards the bottom half, which are visible under direct sunlight. And we admit it does look pretty fancy.

The device feels comfortable in the hand and doesn’t feel bulky at 216 grams, even with a big battery inside. It’s probably the right weight distribution that makes it feel lighter. For the build, it has a polycarbonate back, and the frame is solid too.

You also get IP69 protection, which means you don’t have to stress too much about water or dust.

Oppo K14 5G review: Display

The device boasts a 6.75-inch AMOLED display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate, making things feel smooth.

Be it scrolling reels or switching through apps, everything is fluid. Just make sure to set the refresh rate to 120Hz. By default, it’s set to auto-select, which switches between 60Hz and 120Hz based on what’s on the screen.

What impressed us was the higher typical brightness. It’s set at 900 nits, and the panel is a proper 8-bit screen. Colours look good, blacks are deep, and the sunlight legibility is great for the price.

Oppo K14 5G review: Cameras

The camera setup on the K14 5G is modest, but it works well in idea lighting conditions. The 50MP main camera clicks good photos with nice colours. It’s perfect for social media and everyday shots. Low light is just fine, not great, but that’s expected in this price segment.

The 8MP front camera is good enough for casual selfies. As for the video, the rear camera is restricted to 1080p videos and doesn’t support 4K videos.

Oppo K14 5G review: Performance and Battery

Performance is one of the highlights of the Oppo K14 5G. The device packs the Dimensity 6300 chipset with up to 8GB RAM, and apps open fast, switching between them is smooth, and you don’t really see random lag.

Gaming is good for casual players. BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile run smoothly on balanced settings. It’s not made for high-end gaming, but for most people, it does the job.

What’s great is that it stays consistent. It doesn’t slow down after a while or feel unstable. One of the major highlights of the K14 5G is its massive battery. The 7,000mAh battery easily lasts a full day, even with heavy use. For lighter users, it can even go for two days.

45W fast charging is there too; however, since the battery is pretty big, it does take a while to fully charge. Despite being a budget phone, the K14 5G feature a comparatively cleaner software, with a few apps pre-installed.

Additionally, you get a couple of AI features, including AI Editor in Photos. Now, such AI features are usually limited to flagships and mid-rangers, but they are present on the K14 5G, making it stand out from the competition.

Unboxed Take: Who should buy the Oppo K14 5G?

The Oppo K14 5G ticks most boxes, giving you a practical design, fast performance, and a two-day battery life. Not to mention the added AI features and a good main camera.

That being said, for Rs 18,999, the Oppo K14 5G is a true all-rounder on a budget that’s a safe buy right now. For all the above reasons, we rate the Oppo K14 5G 4/5.

In the same price range, you can also check out the Vivo T5x, which leans more towards performance and cameras. Stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for more such in-depth reviews and everything tech.
