Samsung Galaxy A17 5G could be launching in India later this month

Samsung is reportedly dropping its new Galaxy A17 5G in India on August 29 and the phone packs some nice features for its rumoured budget price. The company’s Indian division has been building hype with a pre-registration page for a new Galaxy A series phone.

Sleuths digging into the page’s code uncovered the potential late August launch date for what is almost certainly the A17. Let’s take a look at everything this device has to offer.

The budget-friendly handset is bringing some serious upgrades

This phone already had a quiet debut in Taiwan and has been popping up at retailers across Europe, so its specifications are no secret. The device is expected to land in India with a rumoured starting price of just Rs 18,999.

As for the features, the centrepiece is a massive 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus for protection. Powering the whole show is Samsung’s own Exynos 1330 chipset.

Moving on to the camera unit, the 50MP main shooter now boasts optical image stabilisation, a feature that makes a huge difference in photo and video quality. It is joined by a 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens.

Another win for longevity is Samsung’s incredible software promise. The phone will ship with Android 15 and is pledged to receive six full OS updates and six years of security patches, which is practically unheard of in this category.

Finally, reports suggest Samsung is actually putting a 25W charging brick back in the box for the A17 in India. This is a welcome move for a company that has famously made chargers a separate purchase even for its most expensive flagships.
