While the rumour mill is actively leaking details about the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, reports suggest that Samsung is also working on new mid-range A-series smartphones, including the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37. Speculation suggests that while the Galaxy S26 lineup may be unveiled by the end of February, the A-series models could debut later this month or in early February across multiple markets, including India.
Ahead of the expected launch, new details about the Galaxy A57’s display and cameras have surfaced. In addition, the device has now cleared an important certification hurdle in India.
Samsung Galaxy A57 bags BIS certification
Smartphones are required to undergo BIS certification before being launched in India. According to a report by TheTechOutlook, a new Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-A576B/DS has received approval from the BIS authority.
While the listing does not reveal the final marketing name of the device, it can be inferred from Samsung’s previous model-number patterns that this handset is likely to be the Galaxy A57.
Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy A37 alongside the A57. However, the Galaxy A37 has not yet appeared in the BIS database.
Samsung Galaxy A57’s key details emerge
According to a report by South Korean publication The Elec, the upcoming Galaxy A57 will become Samsung’s first A-series smartphone to feature a flexible OLED display. These panels are said to be supplied by China-based display maker CSOT.
This also marks the first time Samsung is expected to use display panels from an external supplier instead of relying entirely on its in-house Samsung Display division. The Galaxy A57 will reportedly use panels from both CSOT and Samsung Display, with the latter supplying a larger share.
Previous-generation A-series models have used rigid OLED panels. For those unaware, rigid OLED uses a glass substrate and cannot bend, whereas flexible OLED uses a plastic substrate, enabling slimmer bezels, curved designs, and improved durability.
As per recent reports, the Galaxy A57’s rear camera setup will include a flagship-grade Sony IMX906 50MP primary camera. There is also a possibility that Samsung may opt for its in-house SK5KGNJ 50MP sensor instead. The primary camera is expected to be accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide lens, while the front-facing camera could be a 13MP unit.
Other reports suggest that the Galaxy A57 will be powered by the Exynos 1680 chipset. It is also expected to run Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8.0 skin on top. The rest of the specifications remain under wraps for now.
