Ever since Samsung debuted the Galaxy Z Fold back in 2019, the brand’s foldables have been one of the tech world’s prized showpieces. Slabs of glass that bend like books, multitasking layouts that blur the line between phone and tablet, with enough futuristic polish to make other smartphones look old-fashioned.
But for all that spectacle, one truth has held. When it comes to cameras, foldables have played second fiddle to Samsung’s Ultra flagships. That might finally be about to change. A new leak of the upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold, spotted on X by tipsters @TechHighest and @evowizz, hints at a shift in priorities.

The leak shows off a series of interface animations, most of which cover familiar territory like dragging apps across panels, desktop-style DeX support, and the multitasking magic Samsung has been refining for half a decade. But one frame stopped the tech community in their tracks. A zoom bar that stretches all the way to 100x!
Why 100x on a TriFold is a big deal
For context, every Z Fold so far has been capped at a modest 3x telephoto lens. That’s fine for casual snaps but hardly enough to satisfy power users. By contrast, the Galaxy S Ultra series has built its reputation on zoom prowess, the latest S25 Ultra offers 5x optical zoom and a digital range that reaches 100x.
If the TriFold really adopts a similar periscope telephoto module, it would be the first Samsung foldable to close the gap with its slab siblings.
What makes this even more interesting is that the TriFold is also rumored to pack a 200MP main sensor, the same one found on the S25 Ultra. Taken together, these clues suggest Samsung is positioning the TriFold as more than a proof of concept. Instead, it’s an all-in-one device that doesn’t force buyers to trade camera performance for design innovation.
