Back in January 2025, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 series of flagship phones. After the event, the brand showcased the Project Moohan XR (extended reality headset) for the first time. It was initially expected to launch by the end of September, but after some delay, the brand has finally confirmed its launch date.
Samsung Project Moohan XR headset launch date

The official teaser reveals that Samsung will hold a Galaxy Event at 10 PM ET on October 21 to unveil the Project Moohan XR headset. While the brand has yet to confirm its official marketing name, rumours suggest that it will be called the Galaxy XR.
The event will be livestreamed on Samsung’s official website. According to the brand, it will be the company’s first product built for the open and scalable Android XR platform.
Samsung Galaxy XR’s expected specifications
As per reports, the Galaxy XR will feature two micro-LED screens with 4K resolution and a 4032ppi pixel density. Compared to Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 headsets, Samsung’s offering is expected to deliver a superior viewing experience with 29 million pixels, surpassing their 23 million pixels.
Under the hood, the Galaxy XR will be powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset. It was recently spotted on Geekbench with 16GB of RAM and Android XR. These specs suggest that the device will provide a smooth, stutter-free visual experience.
The Galaxy XR is said to come equipped with several sensors, including a proximity sensor near the forehead for safety and boundary monitoring, four sensors on the front and two at the bottom for tracking hand movements.
It will also include four cameras for eye tracking and four noise-cancelling microphones to detect and capture users’ voices.

Samsung Galaxy XR pre-registrations, price
Samsung has reportedly started pre-registrations in South Korea from October 15. The device is speculated to be priced between KRW 2,500,000 (~Rs 1,55,450) and KRW 4,000,000 (~Rs 2,48,730).
At present, there is no clarity on whether the Galaxy XR will be released in India.
