Nobody plays The Sims game without a bit of cheating. In fact, in the words of Electronic Arts themselves, “Not only is cheating easy to access, but it’s even something we kinda, sorta, actually encourage.”

The game first broke into the scene way back in 2014, and it continues to be more than relevant to this day. A big part of that may have something to do with cheats. And with the Adventure Awaits expansion that dropped in October 2025, there’s even more to explore. So below is an exhaustive list of The Sims 4 cheat codes.

How to use cheats on Sims 4

Getting cheats to work is straightforward and usually the first thing we do when loading up a new save. You do not need to mess around with game files or download dodgy software to make them work.

– In the game, press Ctrl + Shift + C on your keyboard (or Command + Shift + C if you are on a Mac)

– This opens a small text bar at the very top of your screen

– Type in the code you want from the lists below and hit Enter.

– For many of these to function properly, you should first type testingCheats true and hit Enter. This enables the shift-click interactions and allows the more complex commands to run.

Just keep in mind that some cheats in this guide require specific expansion packs to be installed, and will not work in the base game alone. If a cheat doesn’t apply as expected, double-check that you own the required pack, that testingCheats true is enabled where needed, and that the trait or command is entered exactly as written.

Another thing to note is that world-level cheats can affect an entire save, so it’s a good idea to save your game before experimenting. Anyway, below are the cheats you can actually use. You can simply copy the text in bold and paste in game. Hit Ctrl + F if you’re looking for something specific.

Money cheats

Spending all your time worrying about bills and grocery money is a little too much like real life for our tastes. Sometimes you just want to build that massive mansion in the hills without having to work your way up.

That’s when the following cheats come in handy. You can enter them as many times as you like, so go wild and fill that bank account until you cannot even read the numbers anymore.

kaching – Deposits 1,000 Simoleons into the household funds
rosebud – Also gives you 1,000 Simoleons if you want to feel nostalgic about the original game
motherlode – Adds 50,000 Simoleons to your account instantly
Money [number] – Sets your household funds to that exact amount so you can be precise
FreeRealEstate on – Use this in the neighbourhood view to make every single lot free to purchase

Fixing the game and your Sims

We all know that things have a tendency to go sideways when you lose track of time in this game. Maybe your Sim has decided to freeze in place and stare at a wall for three hours, or perhaps you just cannot be bothered to deal with their relentless need to sleep and eat every single day.

The following cheats are basically your emergency fixes for when the game acts up or when you simply want to play god without consequences.

Build mode cheats

If you are serious about building in The Sims 4, playing without these cheats can be quite difficult. The game has some pretty strict rules about where you can place items, often preventing you from putting a lamp on a desk or planting flowers close together. These codes remove those arbitrary restrictions, letting you clip objects into one another to create entirely new furniture pieces or lush, realistic gardens – among other things.

bb.moveobjects – Lets you place items anywhere, including overlapping or floating in mid air
bb.showhiddenobjects – Unlocks debug items that are usually hidden, like clutter and world objects

Environment and world cheats

You cannot usually just decide to change the season whenever you feel like it, which is annoying if you are trying to tell a specific winter holiday story but you are stuck in the middle of a heatwave. These cheats give you total control over the world around you, letting you skip straight to your favourite season or forcefully clean up a neighbourhood that has become too industrial.
