Vivo drops dates for OriginOS 6 India beta

Vivo is finally getting rid of Funtouch OS in India and abroad. It has now officially revealed its rollout plan for the OriginOS 6 beta in India, scheduling the major software update to begin hitting tester devices on October 15.

Set to start rolling out to preview programme members soon

The company is finally ditching its long-running Funtouch OS for international users and unifying its software experience with the version previously exclusive to its home market of China. This is a massive shift for the brand and it brings a completely fresh interface to Vivo phones across the globe.

Indian users who were shortlisted for the OriginOS 6 Preview Programme will be the first to get a taste of the new software. A Vivo representative confirmed that a dedicated Telegram group for these early adopters will be created by October 13, as reported by Gizmochina.

The beta release itself will happen in waves, kicking off on October 15 and continuing right through until November 6. This window coincides with the software’s global launch, which is also set for October 15, just days after its debut in China.

So what is Vivo cooking up with this new Android 16-based system? The update promises a serious design overhaul focused on cleaner visuals and smarter features.

The company is leaning heavily into AI, introducing a redesigned interaction area around the selfie camera that apes Apple’s Dynamic Island but adds predictive shortcuts. You can expect more fluid animations, new customisation tools like transparent themes, and a clever colour palette system that helps the UI blend with your wallpaper.

For now, access to the preview programme is limited to owners of the high-end Vivo X200 Pro. Unconfirmed rumours suggest that after the initial launch, the company’s flagship X series will be prioritised for the stable update.

This could mean users with phones in the A, Y, T, and V series might have a longer wait ahead of them. Vivo is expected to share the full official schedule when OriginOS 6 launches worldwide later this month.
