The budget phone market is flooded with several options, but they usually cut corners. Sometimes it’s the performance, while other times it’s the battery or the cameras. The new Vivo T5x, however, is truly an all-arounder that offers a lot, and also a marathon battery life. Having used it for some days, here’s our detailed Vivo T5x review.
Vivo T5x review: Design and build
The T5x does not feel like a typical budget phone. It looks quite premium from the back, especially in the Star Silver shade, with the plastic back getting a matte finish. Up front, it’s a slightly different story. The LCD display comes with asymmetrical bezels, but the slim side bezels and punch-hole help balance the overall experience.
The overall construction feels solid, and at 219 grams, the T5x sits on the heavier side, but the weight distribution is such that you won’t feel the heft.
The device is also quite durable with IP68 and IP69+ rating, which means you can use it without worrying about accidentally dropping it in the pool.
Vivo T5x review: Display
You get a 6.76-inch LCD display with a 1080p resolution for crisp content viewing and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth gaming. We enjoyed watching the Duffer Brothers-produced Something Very Bad is Going to Happen on Netflix.
As for outdoors, the screen peaks at 1,200 nits, which is bright enough for reading messages under direct sunlight.
Vivo T5x review: Cameras
Despite being a budget phone, the cameras on the Vivo T5x are quite likeable. You get a dual-rear camera system with a 50MP Sony sensor and a 2MP depth unit. The main camera performs well in daylight, whereas nighttime shots look decent, with a bit of noise.
Colour reproduction is close to natural, with a slight boost. On the front, you get a 32MP sensor, and it’s decent for selfies and video calls. The device also comes with AI features like AI Erase and AI UHD to remove unwanted objects from photos and enhance image quality, and they work well.
In terms of video, you get support for 4K recording at 30fps, and the footage is more than usable. There’s no optical image stabilisation here, so the videos won’t look cinematically stablised, but there’s EIS which helps reduce the shake.
Vivo T5x review: Performance, battery life, software
The Dimensity 7400-Turbo inside the T5x does the heavy lifting, and you get smooth, lag-free everyday usage. We faced no stutters while opening apps or switching between them.
Gaming performance is stable, although this is not a phone built for heavy titles. You can still play BGMI on low settings and have a smooth experience. RAM management is solid too, and in our testing, more than seven apps stayed active in the background without reloading.
Coming to the battery, which is among the highlights of the phone. It houses a ridiculously large 7,200mAh cell, and it makes the phone run for two days on moderate usage. Despite pushing it (by texting, watching Netflix, playing games, and shooting photos), the device ran for a full day, and we still had 20 per cent left at the end of it.
Charging is fast too, with 44W FlashCharge taking it from 0 to 100 in under two hours, which is great for a battery this size.
The T5x runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, and it is one of the smoother software experiences you will find at this price. The UI is clean, animations feel fluid, and the phone does not feel bogged down by unnecessary bloat.
For security, you get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and it is fast and accurate. It unlocks the phone almost instantly and rarely misreads.
Unboxed Take: Who should buy the Vivo T5x?
The Vivo T5x is one of the more complete budget phones available right now. The Dimensity 7400-Turbo keeps things snappy, the 120Hz display keeps scrolling smooth, and the 7,200mAh battery is in a different league compared to most phones at this price.

That said, if you want an all-rounder that handles everything across a full day and then some, the Vivo T5x for Rs 18,999 is an easy recommendation. For all these reasons, the Vivo T5x gets a solid 4/5.
In the same price segment, you can also check out alternatives like the CMF Phone 2 Pro and the Galaxy F17 5G. Both offer similar features.
