Vivo has just dropped its latest audio devices, the TWS 5 and TWS 5 Hi-Fi earbuds, launching them in China alongside its new X300 series phones. These successors to last year’s TWS 4 lineup bring some serious noise-cancelling tech to the party. Let’s take a look at everything they have to offer.
Class-leading ANC, high-res audio, and more
The headline feature is a whopping 60dB of active noise cancellation, using which the buds promise to silence an ultra-wide 5500Hz frequency range. Sound quality gets a serious upgrade too, especially on the TWS 5 Hi-Fi model.
This premium version was fine-tuned in a deep collaboration between Vivo’s audio specialists and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Acoustic Master Group. Both models sport 11mm dynamic drivers with second-generation ceramic tungsten acoustic diaphragms, but the Hi-Fi variant gets the full suite of high-res codecs including LDAC and LHDC 5.0 for transmission rates up to 1.4Mbps. The standard TWS 5 makes do without LHDC.
Vivo has also packed in some neat tricks beyond the core specs. A professional spatial sound field engine delivers an immersive 3D listening experience, and a clever translation feature leverages the earbuds and a Vivo phone for live interpretation of languages like Chinese, English, French, and Thai.

Connectivity is handled by modern Bluetooth 5.4 LE, which also allows for seamless switching between three connected devices. Gamers will be pleased to see the low-latency mode has been tightened to a speedy 42ms.
Battery life is robust, offering up to 12 hours from the buds alone or a massive 48 hours total with the charging case when ANC is off. Turning it on brings those numbers down to a still-respectable 6 and 24 hours. The earbuds are also IP54 rated against dust and splashes.
The Vivo TWS 5 is available in Purple, White, and Black colours for 399 yuan, roughly Rs 4,979. The souped-up TWS 5 Hi-Fi comes in Deep Sea Blue and White colours, priced at 499 yuan or about Rs 6,226. They hit shelves in China on October 17, with global availability yet to be announced.
