Vivo is expected to announce the Vivo X Fold 6 as a successor to last year’s X Fold 5. Back in November, an online tipster shared a post revealing the chipset that would power the X Fold 6. Now, the tipster has returned with fresh information about one of its cameras.
Vivo X Fold 6 camera details emerge
According to the tipster, the Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to offer one of the best photography experiences among upcoming foldable phones. This is because the device is tipped to feature a 200MP camera.
The leak does not clearly specify whether the 200MP sensor will serve as the main camera or as a periscope telephoto camera on the X Fold 6. The tipster has also added that the device will be equipped with a multispectral sensor, which will enable improved colour accuracy and more realistic colour reproduction.
It appears that the Vivo X Fold 6 could deliver a major upgrade in the photography department, as the previous generation featured a triple 50MP camera setup and lacked a multispectral sensor. Considering Vivo’s long-standing collaboration with Zeiss, the optics are also expected to carry Zeiss branding.
Competing foldable phones such as the Honor Magic V6 and the Oppo Find N6 are said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. However, the Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. For those unfamiliar, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 sits slightly below the Elite variant, offering strong flagship performance with lower peak CPU and GPU power, along with reduced efficiency.
Vivo previously offered ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors up to the X Fold 3 series. Since then, the brand has switched to a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, similar to other foldables, and the same approach is expected for the X Fold 6.
Vivo X Fold 6 launch timeframe (expected)
Vivo is expected to announce the Vivo X Fold 6 in China in the second quarter of this year. It is likely to arrive in the Indian market in June, a few weeks before Samsung unveils its Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is expected to launch in July.
