WhatsApp keeps introducing new features often. The popular instant messaging platform allows users to add more than one account on a single device without the need for parallel apps or separate phones. Now, as per early beta findings, WhatsApp is testing a log out feature on Android that could streamline account management.
WhatsApp log out feature spotted in beta version
WABetainfo spotted a new log out option in the WhatsApp beta version 2.26.11.5 for Android. It will give users the ability to temporarily sign out of their devices without deleting their account or losing chat data. The feature could be quite useful for those who switch their devices frequently or use dual-SIMs.

Unlike Instagram and Facebook, WhatsApp users could not log out without having to uninstall the app. Currently, only secondary accounts set up on the app on the same device could be removed.
WhatsApp is said to offer three different log out modes. One option may log users out while keeping their chats and data intact on the device. The other may remove all local data which is similar to reinstalling. However, creating a backup is still recommended to ensure conversations remain stored.
Meta has not yet confirmed the roll out timeline of log out feature on WhatsApp yet. It could arrive in the future via a stable update. When implemented, the feature could make account management simpler and safer. Meanwhile, the Meta-owned platform is also working on the ability to allow users to chat with non-WhatsApp users through a secured link.
