Microsoft has just announced the November update for Xbox and it’s a massive one, covering mobile, Windows, console, cloud gaming, and accessories as well. The highlight is arguably the all-new Gaming Copilot, a game-oriented spin-off of the same Copilot that Microsoft has been plugging increasingly deeper into Windows. But there’s more, so let’s explore.
A slew of updates
Gaming Copilot is now live within the Xbox mobile app as a beta, and it’s basically an expert advisor for all things gaming. You can access it from the Gaming Copilot anytime for in-game assistance including tips and achievement history. This will come in handy for those who don’t enjoy digging around YouTube when they run into a particularly difficult part of a game.
Mobile gamers will also appreciate the new Backbone Pro – Xbox Edition. This game controller can hold your, converting it into a proper handheld for a more tactile experience. Better yet, it works across tablets, PCs, TVs, and streaming devices, too.
Another major upgrade comes for Xbox Cloud Gaming users, the game streaming service that arrived earlier this month in India. While players have raved about the lag-free experience, they’ve also complained about the lack of streaming quality settings: It was automatic and dependent entirely on your network performance.
Well, no more. Users can now manually select streaming resolution for supported titles, with options up to 1440p. The feature is rolling out alongside higher stream quality for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
Cloud gaming is currently possible across most devices with an internet connection. But this month, it’s also stretched to availability to more Amazon Fire TV devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus.
Handheld fans also get treated to a sweet update. Full Screen Experience (FSE), which was first introduced with the ROG Xbox Ally, is now coming to other Windows 11 handhelds as well through the Xbox Insider program. FSE is essentially an interface that sits on top of the vanilla Windows UI to provide a console-like, controller-first navigation experience. It’s supposed to finally help Windows handhelds catch up to the Steam Deck in terms of usability.
For the Xbox, Xbox Design Lab is offering free engraving on all controller purchases from November 28 through December 12.

Finally, the Xbox Play Anywhere service now includes more than 1,000 supported games. Users can buy these titles once and play them across PC, console, and supported handhelds. All their progress, achievements, and add-ons are synced, too, via their Xbox account.
