Xiaomi has announced two new refrigerators under its Mijia range, expanding its portfolio of home appliances in China. The latest models focus on compact form factors and practical features, targeting users with limited kitchen space. These additions aim to offer efficient cooling solutions without significantly increasing costs.
Xiaomi Mijia refrigerators: Features and cooling setup
The new lineup includes a 186L double-door model and a 216L triple-door version, each designed to cater to different storage needs. The 216L model is structured with three separate compartments, allowing users to manage different types of food more effectively. The main refrigeration section offers 129 litres of storage with a temperature range between 2°C and 8°C.
A dedicated middle section acts as a soft-freeze zone with 30 litres of capacity, operating between -7°C and 0°C, making it suitable for items that require partial freezing. The bottom freezer section provides 57 litres of storage and supports temperatures as low as -24°C for long-term preservation. The appliance also includes multi-level temperature control and operates quietly at around 36dB, making it suitable for shared or smaller living spaces.
The 186L double-door model is aimed at smaller households and rental setups. It includes a similar 129-litre refrigeration compartment along with a 57-litre freezer section, offering consistent cooling performance. Adjustable shelves and a dual-drawer freezer design add flexibility for everyday storage needs.
Price and availability
Additional features include LED lighting, removable door seals, and durable hinges designed for long-term use. Energy efficiency is another focus area, with both models rated at Level 1 efficiency. The 216L variant consumes around 0.43 kWh per day, while the 186L model uses slightly less at 0.41 kWh.
In terms of pricing, the 186L double-door refrigerator is priced at 849 CNY (~Rs 11,550), while the 216L triple-door model costs 949 CNY (~Rs 12,910). These refrigerators are currently confined to the home market. While Xiaomi is expected to launch more home appliances products in India this year, it is too early to say whether these 186L and 216L fridges will arrive in the country.
