Xiaomi announced HyperOS 3 last September, and since then, it’s been rolling out to eligible devices. Now, the Chinese brand is introducing a standalone Password app to the latest software version.
Password management was buried deep within system settings previously. The dedicated app is similar to third-party password managers, allowing users to manage their credentials across devices. Read on to know everything about it.
HyperOS 3 introduces built-in Password manager app
The Xiaomi Password app is currently available in the Chinese market. It could be available globally in the near future, although the brand has not revealed the exact timeline.
The Password app automatically captures and securely stores credentials when logging in to new websites and apps for the first time. It can be auto-filled directly with a one-click prompt.
Passwords are end-to-end encrypted locally and can be synced across devices. This means that users can save them on their phone and access them on another device, like a tablet.
The app also actively monitors your vault by scanning and providing early warnings if the password is easy to guess, reused across services, or leaked.
HyperOS 3 also actively detects any password modifications within apps or browsers and urges the user to update the stored vault credentials. This avoids outdated logins from causing friction.
