While Apple is expected to launch its first book-style foldable iPhone in 2026, Android smartphone brands are already preparing for the next level as they gear up to introduce tri-foldable phones. Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Z TriFold with a triple-foldable design and is expected to bring it to market in 2026.
At the same time, a new development indicates that Xiaomi’s first tri-foldable phone may also debut in 2026.
Xiaomi tri-foldable phone appears in IMEI database
According to a report by XiaomiTime, a new Xiaomi device bearing the model number 2608BPX34C has surfaced in the GSMA IMEI database. While the listing does not specify the marketing name of the device, it is widely speculated to be the company’s first tri-foldable phone.
Reports suggest that the device could arrive in the market with the Xiaomi Mix Trifold moniker. However, some contradictory reports indicate that the 2608BPX34C might be a book-style foldable phone with a different aspect ratio. This is possible since Xiaomi did not launch a book-style foldable in China this year.
Readers should be aware that if a model number appears in the GSMA IMEI database, it simply means the device has been registered for global identification and certification. It does not guarantee a launch, but it also does not rule it out.
At present, there is no information about the rumoured specs of the Xiaomi Mix Trifold. Hopefully, upcoming reports will reveal more details in the coming weeks.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra incoming
In related news, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Xiaomi 17 Ultra as early as this month (December) in China. All previous-generation models have featured a quad-camera setup, but recent reports suggest the 17 Ultra will have a triple-camera system on the back. This setup is expected to include a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS.
