After launching the Xiaomi QLED TV X Pro 75 in India yesterday, the company is gearing up to launch a new product in the country. The Chinese brand has shared a teaser on its X (formerly Twitter) handle. It hints at the arrival of the Xiaomi Pad 8 tablet instead of the possibility of the company’s comeback in the laptop segment in the country.
Xiaomi set to launch a new device in India
The teaser video shared by Xiaomi shows slim device with two distinct halves including what appears to be a lid and a keyboard attachment. The latter has backlit keys and a built-in trackpad.
Xiaomi claims that it has redefined the tablet category, but the brand is not stopping there. The tweet’s wording makes it challenging to determine whether the company will indeed be launching a tablet or a laptop. The brand further states that the ‘future of computing’ is closer than we think along with calling it the next revolution.
However, there’s a strong possibility that the upcoming offering is the Xiaomi Pad 8. The tablet’s global variant has already bagged certifications suggesting imminent launch outside the home market. Another reason is that Xiaomi hasn’t launched a laptop in India since 2022.

The Pad 8’s debuted in China last September. Its predecessor i.e. the Pad 7 was released internationally in January last year. We can expect Xiaomi India to drop more teasers about its upcoming device in the coming days leading up to the launch event.
If this is indeed the Xiaomi Pad 8, then we can expect the Indian variant to be similar compared to its Chinese counterpart. The tablet is powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen4 SoC and a 9,400mAh battery unit with support for up to 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage. It features an 11.2-inch 144Hz LCD display with 3.2K resolution.
The Pad 8 runs on HyperOS 3 with PC-level apps, desktop-style browser with multi-window, split-screen, and Apple cross-platform file transfer. The Pad 8 also comes with a floating keyboard and focus touch pen pro.
