If you own a Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco smartphone that’s running on HyperOS, then you might notice ads in different sections of the UI. Systems apps, including Mi Browser, Music, and Themes, may show several ads, which may hinder your user experience.
Thankfully, there’s a way to get rid of these ads in HyperOS, and we are here to show you exactly how. So, read on to know how you can turn off ads on your Xiaomi phone.
Disable MIUI System Ads
By disabling MIUI System Ads (MSA), you will be turning off recommendations and system-wide ads.
Step 1: Open Settings and head to Fingerprints, face data & screen lock (or Passwords & security on some Xiaomi phones).
Step 2: Tap Authorisation & revocation.
Step 3: Toggle MSA off and hit Revoke to confirm.
Disable Personalised Ads
This is the easiest way to disable ad services.
Step 1: Open Settings and head to Privacy.
Step 2: Select Ad services or Advertising services, then disable Personalised ad recommendations.
Disable Ads in individual System Apps
By following the two methods above, you should be disabling most ads on HyperOS, but you will still need to disable ads in individual system apps.
Mi Browser: Profile > Settings > Advanced > disable Show ads.
Music: Profile > Settings > disable Allow permanent notifications > Advanced settings > disable Show ads and Personalised recommendations.
Themes: Account > Settings > disable “Show ads” and “Personalised recommendations”.
Downloads: Tap three dots > Settings > turn off Show ads.
Mi Video Player: Profile > Settings > disable Personalised recommendations.
App Vault: Menu > Manage services > turn off App suggestions and Ads.
Security: Settings > disable Show recommendations.
That’s how you can disable ads on Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco phones running HyperOS. It’s worth noting that some of these settings may not be permanently disabled, so you might have to head back and disable them again.
Other than this, you can also disable persistent ads/notifications from the msa daemon by heading to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > View all apps > msa > Notifications, then turning off Show notifications.
