Apple Music to soon add stylish WhatsApp Status sharing feature

The Status feature on WhatsApp allows users to share their photos, videos, texts, voice notes, stickers, and GIFs for 24 hours. Apple Music users have long been able to share their music tracks on Status, but the layout has remained rather dull compared to Spotify’s visually rich templates, lyric sections, and styled music cards. Now, with the arrival of iOS 26.2 Beta 1, Apple seems to be changing that.

Apple Music adds new WhatsApp Status option

According to a 9to5Macreport, Apple has added a new option within the “Share Lyrics” menu in Apple Music in OS 26.2 Beta 1, allowing users to pick specific lines and share them directly as a WhatsApp Status. This new sharing method generates a cleaner and more visually appealing template than the plain cards that appear through the regular share menu.

This new feature mirrors what Spotify users have been doing for months, where custom WhatsApp templates and lyric panels became widely popular. Interestingly, this new option currently appears only when sharing lyrics, not when attempting to share a full song, suggesting that the feature may still be in the development stage.

It remains unclear if the feature will make it to the stable iOS 26.2 update. Apple Music currently starts at Rs 119 per month for the individual plan, with the first month free for new users.

WhatsApp tests adding music directly inside Status

While Apple fine-tunes its integration, Meta is working on a separate feature that lets users add music directly within the WhatsApp Status editor. The feature is currently limited to a small group of beta testers and includes a searchable music library, similar to what’s available on Instagram.

Users can search for a desired song, preview it, and select a specific portion to share as Status. A photo-based Status can include up to 15 seconds of audio, while a video-based Status supports the full clip length.

Viewers will see a small music label at the bottom of the Status; tapping it reveals the track name, album art, artist details, and even a link to the artist’s Instagram page. This feature is expected to roll out more widely in future WhatsApp updates for both Android and iOS.
