Google adds live location sharing in Messages and airline luggage tracking to Android

Google has announced a fresh set of updates for Android that focus on making everyday tasks simpler. The update introduces live location sharing directly in Google Messages, a new way to track lost luggage through Find Hub, and short video previews for discovering apps on the Google Play Store. Live location sharing inside Messages

Android users can now share their real-time location directly in a chat on Google Messages. A feature that has been available on WhatsApp for years, but great to have in a native messaging app.

The feature shows a live map view within the conversation. Users can choose how long to share their location and can stop sharing anytime.

Track lost luggage with Find Hub

Google is also expanding Find Hub to help travellers recover lost luggage. If a bag has a compatible tracker tag, users can generate a secure link showing its location and share it with participating airlines. Airline staff can then use the link to track the bag. Users can stop sharing location data whenever they want.

Short video previews for apps on Google Play

The third feature coming with the update is for Google Play. The app store is getting short-form video previews that help users discover apps more easily. These quick clips show how an app works before downloading it, letting you browse and evaluate apps directly within the store.

Other additions include custom calling cards that personalise incoming calls and new kid-friendly games for Android Auto. Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen is also getting more stickers and sticker styles.
