5 signs that it’s time to change your speakers

In a day and age when technology is evolving at such a rapid pace, it becomes difficult to gauge when your gadget has turned obsolete or outdated. Even if your new speaker has been playing your favourite tunes for less than a year, chances are there is a new speaker in the market that outperforms it and comes with more features – possibly at the same price.

But here comes the dilemma, change too soon and you will end up wasting money; change too late, and you may end up with an outdated, poor audio experience. To help you make an informed decision, here are five signs you need to look for in order to determine if it’s time to invest in a new speaker.

Signs that you need to change your speaker

1. Battery life: One of the most obvious signs is bad battery backup. Your speaker is no longer giving you the same battery backup as it used to, and the battery drain might be so bad that you feel your portable Bluetooth speaker is no longer portable and it needs to be plugged in more often than it should be. Since most speakers don’t come with replaceable battery packs, this may mean it is time to get a new speaker.

2. Bad audio quality: Your speaker no longer produces the same delightful sound it used to when it was new. You might hear crackling sounds every now and then with your playlist and the occasional mysterious buzzing sound isn’t helping either. These issues can be fixable to an extent but if they persist after numerous repairs, it may just be time to get a new speaker.

3. Lack of features: One of the most common reasons for upgrading your speaker and pretty much any other gadget or appliance, is the lack of new features. Even a good speaker that doesn’t support new connectivity options or the latest codecs will quickly feel outdated. If you are in need of some newer features that your dear speaker can’t provide, it may be time for a new speaker that meets your needs.

4. Physical damage: Speakers are regularly used outdoors and this can sometimes mean excessive wear-and-tear. If your speaker has been battered to a point of no repair, you may already have started facing issues with the connectivity, sound output or other aspects. While you can show your speaker to a technician, it may make more sense for some users to get a new unit entirely.

5. Upgrading your audio: Maybe nothing is wrong with your speakers, but your music companion can no longer cater to your newer needs. If you need higher audio quality, newer features, better codec support or simply more power from your speakers, you will need to upgrade to a new one that comes with these capabilities. The simplest reason to upgrade could be that your current speaker just can’t meet your requirements.
