How to connect pen drive to mobile

Amongst so many smartphone features, if you ever come across the acronym OTG, your phone can easily connect with other devices. Let’s understand how you can do that.

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is check the USB port type. If you have a micro-USB port, then you’ll need a cable compatible with it. Most new smartphones come with a USB Type-C port, and hence you’ll need a compatible pen drive or an adapter. 

Step 2: Insert the OTG cable into the charging port of your mobile. Take your pen drive and connect it to the other end of the OTG connector. This will create a connection between the two.

Step 3: Swipe down your notification screen and check if it shows the USB Drive option. If yes, click on it. 

Step 4: This will show you all the folders that you have on your pen drive. You can now transfer files, watch movies, see pictures, or play music from your pen drive to your mobile phone or vice versa.

What can be the possible failures while connecting pen drive to your smartphone

Connecting a pen drive to a mobile phone is easy, but the connection might still fail. Given below are some of the reasons for the connection failure.

Incompatibility: Check if your phone is OTG compatible. A smartphone without OTG compatibility won’t connect to pen drives.

Defective OTG device: A faulty OTG connector will not be able to create a connection, so check for faults beforehand.

Software issues: Sometimes, the connection also fails if your smartphone is facing software problems. So, check for pending updates and system errors. Fix them first before connecting a pen drive.
