If your relationship with YouTube currently involves sitting through back-to-back ads just to watch one cooking video, one smartphone review, or a nostalgic concert clip from 2014, this might be your cue to upgrade without paying for it just yet.
YouTube appears to be rolling out a free two-month trial of YouTube Premium to select users, which is notably more generous than the platform’s usual one-week or one-month teaser. If your account is eligible, you can get access to all the usual Premium perks without spending a rupee upfront. Here’s how you can get it.
What you actually get with the free trial
But first, let’s dive into what you actually get with this two-month-l0ng trial. This is not one of those trials where the good stuff is hidden behind another paywall. If you qualify for the offer, the two-month YouTube Premium free trial includes the full Premium experience. That means you get:
– Ad-free YouTube viewing
– Background playback on your phone
– Offline video downloads
– HD offline playback support
How to claim the YouTube Premium 2-month free offer
The process is fairly straightforward, and thankfully does not involve coupon codes, referral links, or clicking through five different menus that all look the same. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the YouTube app and make sure you are signed into the Google account you want to check eligibility for.
Step 2: Tap the ‘You’ tab. You will find this in the bottom-right area of the app.
Step 3: Scroll down a bit and tap the ‘Get YouTube Premium’ option if it appears.
Step 4: Check if the 2 months free offer is showing. If your account is eligible, you should see an offer screen mentioning the trial period, terms, and pricing after the free period ends.

Step 5: Tap ‘Try 2 months for ₹0’. If the mentioned button appears, you are in.
Step 6: You may be asked to add or confirm a payment method, even though the trial starts at zero cost.
Step 7: Activate and enjoy your ad-free era. Once confirmed, your Premium access should begin immediately.
What to do if you do not see the offer
Before you assume YouTube has personally decided you do not deserve an ad-free existence, there is a more boring explanation: the offer is only rolling out to select users. That means not every account will see it right away. If the option does not appear on your main account, try checking:
– A secondary Google account
– A newer YouTube account
– An account that has not used a Premium trial before
Free trial offers are usually tied to account history, which means YouTube tends to favour people it still believes it can convert to paid users.
One more important thing to note is that like most subscription trials, this one may automatically convert into a paid plan once the trial ends. Unless you cancel it in time. So, if you are only in it for the free run, it is smart to set a reminder the day you activate it.
So, if you have been on the fence about paying for YouTube Premium, a two-month free trial should give you enough time to figure out whether you actually use the features it offers. Will you be trying it out? Drop a comment to let us know.
