How to create a picture collage on Google Photos: A step-by-step guide

One of the cool features of the Google Photos app is its ability to create picture collages. This is a wonderful way to combine multiple images into a visually appealing picture. A couple of years ago, users required dedicated photo-editing apps, such as Photoshop or Lightroom, to make a collage of photos.

However, Google Photos is not just an image gallery app; it has several tools for image editing and allows users to create beautiful collages in simple and easy steps.

Steps to create a picture collage using Google Photos

Here is a look at how to create a picture collage in Google Photos, whether you are using a phone or a web browser:

On an Android or iOS phone:

1. Open the Google Photos app.

2. Select up to six photos that you want to include a collage.

3. Tap on the “Add to” option available on the bottom bar of the app, and then select “Collage.”

4. Choose the desired layout from the available options. It also allows you to zoom in and rotate each image of the collage.

5. You can tap on “Save” once you are satisfied with the collage.

On a web browser:

1. Open a web browser and type photos.google.com in the address bar.

2. If you are not logged into your Google account, it will prompt you to enter your login credentials. If you have already logged in, it will display all your photos directly.

3. Select two to nine photos for making a collage.

4. Click on the “+” sign at the top-right corner and then select “Collage,”.

5. It will display a “Creating collage” message and show you the finally created collage.

As you can see, creating a collage on Google Photos takes only a few minutes, whether you’re using a phone or a web browser. The web browser allows you to add more photos but lacks customisation features. On the other hand, phone-based collage creation limits you to six photos, but provides multiple layouts and customisation options. You can find the saved collages along with your other photos in Google Photos. Alternatively, you can search for “collages” in the Google Photos search bar.
