Xiaomi’s free AI tool transforms your selfies into adorable cartoon Polaroids

Even with evolving technology, there’s something sweet about holding on to an instant photograph you so dearly love. Of course, you may or may not have an instant photo printer at your disposal.

However, Xiaomi’s new AI tool brings back the nostalgia of a Polaroid in a new, digital avatar. And, if that’s not all, the tool also illustrates it for you to give you an adorable little makeover. Wondering how it works and where to find it? Read on.

How to use Xiaomi's new AI Polaroid converter tool

The Xiaomi Polaroid converter is an AI-based tool that is accessible to just about everyone. It is also powered by the brand’s latest MiMo-7B model. Don’t have a Xiaomi smartphone? No problem.

What’s more, it is also reportedly free for everyone to use. All you have to do is have an active Xiaomi account or sign up with Google to begin using it. Here’s how to go about it:

Step 1: Visit Xiaomi’s AI platform, which will allow you to create your very own digital Polaroid photograph

Step 2: Accept the terms and conditions, and then go ahead to upload a photo of yourself

Step 3: Allow AI some time to process your photograph

Step 4: Once done, you will be able to download the image to your device

The tool will add classic Polaroid elements to the photograph, such as a white border as well as a nostalgic, subtle, faded effect.

The announcement comes shortly after OpenAI’s ChatGPT Studio Ghibli wave that took over social media a month ago. While Xiaomi’s tool certainly has a long way to go, there’s no denying it seems to be moving in the right direction. Have you tried using this tool?
