Chatting with ChatGPT just got way more interesting (and simpler)! While you could already text with the AI assistant through WhatsApp, OpenAI has now kicked things up a notch. OpenAI has brought ChatGPT to WhatsApp, ensuring AI-powered support for users in need.
Typically, it lets you type out your questions and also send pictures or voice notes for times you’re too busy to type. But if you’re wondering how to hit up your AI sidekick on WhatsApp, we have a few steps in place to help you get started. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Guide to using ChatGPT on WhatsApp
ChatGPT on WhatsApp is completely free to use and available across all regions. Here’s how to go about conversing with it.

Step 1: Before you begin, save the contact number 1-800-2428478 on your device
Step 2: Once done, locate ChatGPT on WhatsApp by tapping the ‘+’ icon on the bottom-right corner
Step 3: In the search bar, type ‘ChatGPT’ to locate the chatbot
Step 4: Tap on it and type in your query
Step 5: On doing this, ChatGPT will respond to your messages, voice notes or images with text-based responses
What can ChatGPT on WhatsApp do?
For now, ChatGPT can only answer your queries in text and does not support multimodal responses. This means it cannot generate images or process your Word or PDF documents.
While OpenAI is yet to confirm the possibility, there is still a good chance that they may be made available for the chatbot later in the future. In fact, users may also soon be able to log in to their Premium accounts to access a host of other features on ChatGPT.
But at the time of filing this story, there’s no word on when that could be possible. Until then, you always have the platform’s very own Meta AI chatbot to process complex queries.
