As is the tradition, Apple is expected to announce its next-generation iPhones in September this year. Well ahead of the official announcement, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that Apple has begun early prototyping for the iPhone 18 lineup, with multiple models already in the sampling stage. Furthermore, the tipster has also revealed the screen sizes of the iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Apple iPhone 18 series’ display details emerge
DCS revealed that the standard iPhone 18 is tipped to feature a 6.27-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Dynamic Island design. Meanwhile, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to come with a slightly larger 6.55-inch LTPO 120Hz screen, also retaining the Dynamic Island.
On the higher end, the iPhone 18 Pro is said to use a 6.27-inch LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but with a newly developed under-display area, signalling a shift away from the traditional Dynamic Island. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to follow the same approach, pairing a larger 6.86-inch LTPO 120Hz panel with the same new under-display solution.
While the leak does not explicitly detail the components placed under the screen, the mention of a “newly developed under-display area” does not necessarily confirm a fully under-display selfie camera.
Instead, it is widely interpreted as Apple reworking the front display layout on the Pro models, potentially reducing or eliminating the Dynamic Island by relocating certain Face ID components beneath the display, while the front-facing camera may still remain visible as a small cutout.
iPhone 18 series launch timeframe (rumoured)
According to previous reports, Apple will adopt a two-phase launch strategy for the iPhone 18 series. While the iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple’s first foldable phone are expected to debut in September this year, the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e may break cover in the first quarter of 2027.
At present, there is no concrete information about the iPhone Air 2’s launch timeframe, making it unclear whether it will debut this year or sometime next year.
