Thinnest iPhone grows slimmer in price

iPhone Air can be yours for just Rs 54,900 with this Croma Black Friday deal

Croma has dropped the price of the brand new iPhone Air to just Rs 54,900 as part of its Black Friday sales. That is a massive drop from the usual sticker shock of Rs 1,19,900. The deal is happening right now and runs until November 30.

Now, you probably would want to know how a six-figure phone ends up costing the same as a mid-range phone. It involves a bit of math and trading in an older device. Let’s dive in.

How to get iPhone Air for Rs 54,900 on Croma

Croma currently lists the phone at Rs 1,12,900 which is already lower than the official MRP of Rs 1,19,900 that the phone was launched at and what most other sellers continue to charge. You start shaving money off by using specific bank cards to get an instant Rs 4,000 discount.

The big chunk comes from the exchange bonus. You need to trade in an iPhone 15 Pro specifically to get the maximum exchange value of Rs 52,000. That figure includes the extra exchange bonus Croma is throwing in. Combining the bank offer and the exchange value brings the total down to that Rs 54,900 price tag.

The offer is valid from November 22 to November 30. You can also pay via EMI at Rs 4,825 a month for a year if you prefer spreading the Rs 54,900 cost.

Why get the iPhone Air

Apple really leaned into the thinness with the iPhone Air since it measures only 5.6mm thick. That is absurdly skinny and it houses the A19 Pro chip inside a grade 5 titanium frame. The whole package weighs just 165g.

The back features a new plateau design precision-milled to fit the camera and battery. That plateau also houses a single 48MP Fusion camera, capable of 2x lossless zoom. The company claims the image pipeline allows for depth capture that matches multicamera systems. The front camera is also different because it is square now and supports landscape selfies even when holding the phone vertically.

Apple has also ditched physical SIM cards entirely with the phone, likely to free up more space in such a slim body, so this model is eSIM only everywhere.

On the front, you get a 6.5-inch ProMotion display that can dial down to 1Hz for the Always-On feature. Connectivity got a boost with the new N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and the C1X modem. Apple promises an all-day battery life too, enabled by the highly efficient chipset.

The iPhone Air isn’t the only device on offer this Black Friday. Here’s a little guide.
