Apple’s rumoured foldable could be the most durable foldable phone yet

The rumour mill continues to churn out new details about the so-called iPhone Fold, which is widely expected to launch this year. Reports have already suggested that Apple is focusing more on design and durability rather than cramming top-tier specifications. The latest leak adds to this by claiming that the iPhone Fold could be the most durable foldable phone yet.

iPhone Fold build details emerge

According to a new leak, the foldable iPhone will use liquid metal for its hinge, while its main body will be built using a titanium alloy. This alloy is said to be an enhanced version of the titanium Apple currently uses on its existing models.

The use of liquid metal is expected to significantly improve hinge durability and reduce stress on the folding area over long-term use. Meanwhile, the titanium alloy should add strength without increasing the device’s weight. With these materials, the Apple iPhone Fold could potentially emerge as the most durable foldable smartphone available.

iPhone Fold specifications (rumoured)

In a recent investor note, analyst Jeff Pu revealed that the iPhone Fold will feature a 5.3-inch cover display, and a 7.8-inch inner foldable screen. As previously reported, the device is expected to adopt a wider, book-style folding design that opens into a tablet-like display.

Under the hood, the iPhone Fold is said to be powered by the upcoming Apple A20 Pro chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and the Apple C2 modem for stable 5G connectivity.

For photography, the iPhone Fold is expected to feature a dual 48MP rear camera setup. On the front, it is tipped to include an 18MP selfie camera, with the same sensor also available on the inner display.

iPhone Fold launch timeframe (rumoured)

The Apple iPhone Fold is expected to go official in September 2026. At the same event, the brand is also likely to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
