The holiday season may still be a few months away, but the game release calendar is already heating up as October lines up some of the year’s biggest releases. Kicking things off on October 2 is Ghost of Yotei, the long-awaited follow-up to Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima.
Set in Ezo during the Edo period, the sequel introduces Atsu, a new protagonist on a bloody quest for vengeance against the Yotei Six. Featuring gunplay, an open world steeped in folklore, and a Legends multiplayer mode (confirmed for post-launch), the sequel is bloodier, more dynamic, and offers a fresh, intense take on the series.
Just weeks later, Ninja Gaiden 4 slices in on October 21. Team Ninja introduces Yakumo, a martial arts prodigy from the Raven clan, while veteran warrior Ryu Hayabusa remains in the fray. With a cursed cyberpunk Tokyo backdrop, the Bloodraven combat system, and brutal boss encounters, this revival promises relentless, high-stakes action.
Closing out the month is The Outer Worlds 2, Obsidian’s expansive RPG follow-up. It features larger worlds, sharper gunplay, and more reactive companions, all set in the isolated colony of Arcadia under the Protectorate’s iron rule.
Expanding on the studio’s signature mix of satire, branching choices, and inventive weaponry, it looks to be another sprawling, player-driven adventure. So, from epic sequels to bold new titles, here are the October releases you won’t want to miss.

Ghost of Yotei
Years in the making, Ghost of Yotei brings Sucker Punch back with a fresh take on the open-world samurai formula, set 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. You step into the shoes of Atsu, a lone mercenary on a quest for vengeance against the notorious Yōtei Six, the gang that destroyed her family.
Armed with the very katana that nearly ended her life years ago, Atsu can hunt down her targets in any order, combining stealth, strategy, and lethal combat as she carves her legend across the wilds of Ezo.

Ghost of Yotei balances intense action with breathtaking exploration as Ezo’s landscapes, from snow-dusted peaks to Sakura-filled forests, invite players to wander freely, uncover hidden adventures, and encounter allies, including a mysterious wolf that fights alongside Atsu.
Combat leans on precision and adaptability, while new gameplay mechanics, including an underlying clue system and the freedom to approach objectives however you choose, make the gameplay feel deeper and more rewarding.
Ghost of Yotei promises a gripping story, and you can play it right away on your PlayStation 5.
Battlefield 6
After a rough (and offbeat) few years, Battlefield 6 is back, returning to what fans love most: massive battles, intense combat, and epic multiplayer mayhem. Battlefield 2042’s rocky launch left players frustrated, and DICE and EA are refocusing on the core elements that have defined the long-running series. Battlefield 6’s single-player campaign drops players into a near-future conflict as the rogue private military company Pax Armata threatens global stability.
On the multiplayer side of things, the classic four-class system (Assault, Recon, Engineer, and Support) makes its return, ditching 2042’s unpopular Specialists. Battlefield 6 features nine launch maps, including tight urban fights in Brooklyn, sprawling landscapes in Tajikistan, and a remake of Battlefield 3′s iconic Operation Firestorm.
Additionally, multiplayer offers a mix of Conquest and Breakthrough, the expanded Portal sandbox, and the new Escalation finale, delivering a focused, fan-approved experience.
Battlefield 6 launches on October 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Little Nightmares 3
Just in time for spooky season, Little Nightmares 3 pulls players back into its strange and unsettling world. This time, the nightmare unfolds in The Spiral, a disturbing cluster of surreal locations from the eerie Necropolis to the grotesque, candy-fueled Carnevale.
You take control of Alone and Low, whose journey is equal parts eerie and heartbreaking as they dodge monsters, solve puzzles, and rely on each other to survive. Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn and The Quarry, takes the reins for this third installment, bringing its horror expertise to the series’ signature platforming and tension-filled escapes. The biggest change is co-op, and for the first time, you can explore the entire game online with a friend or play solo with an AI partner who reacts intelligently to your commands.
Ninja Gaiden 4
More than a decade later, Ninja Gaiden 4 returns with a bold new direction, plunging players into a cursed, futuristic Tokyo drowning under the supernatural “Rain of Darkrot,” a lingering curse tied to the remains of the Dark Dragon. The game shifts focus to Yakumo, a rising talent from the Raven clan who takes centre stage as the main protagonist. Yakumo introduces the Bloodraven Form, a martial art that manipulates blood to create devastating attacks, adding a fresh dimension to the franchise’s fast and punishing combat.
At the same time, longtime fans won’t be left out, as series veteran Ryu Hayabusa also returns, bringing his signature fighting style into the mix. The story unfolds in a Tokyo left in ruin after the fall of the Dark Dragon. Co-developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, the game emphasises speed, precision, and adaptability, with new features like far-range instant kills, destructible arenas, and dynamic traversal.
Ninja Gaiden 4 launches on October 21, 2025, for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The Outer Worlds 2
Obsidian returns to its witty, choice-driven sci-fi universe with The Outer Worlds 2, expanding the scope of its adventure in nearly every way. The sequel drops players into Arcadia, an isolated colony ruled by the authoritarian Protectorate, where wealth and luxury come at the cost of freedom.
As an Earth Directorate agent, you’ll investigate dangerous rifts caused by failing Skip Drive technology, quickly getting pulled into faction conflicts, moral dilemmas, and corporate conspiracies.

A new roster of six companions, each tied to different factions, adds depth to both combat and narrative, offering unique perspectives that react to your decisions. Combat has been sharpened with inspiration from Halo and Destiny, introducing new throwables and inventive science weapons, from tumour-launching blasters to swords that reward on-beat fighting.
Exploration is also reworked, with double jumps, sliding, and parkour-style mobility encouraging players to comb every corner of Arcadia’s diverse environments. With a refined perks and flaws system, permanent character-building choices, and Obsidian’s signature reactive storytelling, The Outer Worlds 2 promises a stranger, deeper, and highly replayable adventure.
The Outer Worlds 2 launches on October 29, 2025, for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Finally arriving after years of hype, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is here with a fresh take on the cult-favorite RPG. Set in modern-day Seattle fractured by vampire politics, you play as Phyre, a recently awakened 400-year-old vampire trying to navigate a world you barely recognise. Your choices drive everything, from clan, appearance, and backstory to how you approach combat, dialogue, and stealth.
The game introduces four unique clans at launch, each with distinct powers. Combat is fast-paced and acrobatic, combining melee attacks, telekinetic abilities, and brutal feeding mechanics to fuel your powers. Stealth, persuasion, and reputation matter just as much, since violating the Masquerade risks exposure and violent consequences from vampire authorities.
Seattle is alive with vampire factions, hidden dangers, and morally tricky decisions. The game’s open-world has five unique districts for players to explore, along with branching dialogue that adapts to your actions.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 launches in October 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
