A sharper display, bigger battery, and plenty of ambition

OnePlus 15 gears up for India with serious flagship firepower

OnePlus is readying its next flagship for India. The OnePlus 15 will launch on November 13, and the company has already confirmed much of what to expect. On paper, it’s an impressive mix of performance hardware and practical upgrades including a 165Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and a 7,300mAh battery that looks built for endurance. It’s a confident follow-up in a year where flagships have been pushing both speed and stamina.

OnePlus 15 to bring power and polish in equal measure

The OnePlus 15 uses a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz adaptive refresh rate, a noticeable bump from the 120Hz panels seen across most high-end phones. The screen supports 1,800 nits of peak brightness, and OnePlus says it’s been tuned for smoother gameplay in titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Brawl Stars, with native 165fps support.

It’s also TÜV Rheinland-certified for eye comfort, offering adaptive colour and brightness adjustment for long viewing sessions.

Performance is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, complemented by two additional chips; one to improve touch response and another for more stable Wi-Fi. This multi-chip setup runs on OxygenOS 16, built on Android 16, and is designed to manage gaming loads more efficiently.

The cooling system has also been overhauled. It houses a 5,731mm² vapour chamber and aerogel insulation form what the company calls its 360-degree Cryo-Velocity Cooling System, a practical touch for a phone clearly aimed at performance enthusiasts.

Practical endurance, not just numbers

The 7,300mAh Silicon NanoStack battery is one of the largest seen on a mainstream flagship, and OnePlus claims it can retain over 80 per cent of its capacity after four years of use. It supports 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, with a new bypass mode to prevent heating while gaming.

Durability has also been taken up several notches. The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, meaning it’s resistant to dust, immersion, and even high-pressure water jets.

On the camera front, OnePlus has parted ways with Hasselblad. The triple 50MP rear setup now relies on its in-house DetailMax Engine for colour tuning and image processing. The configuration includes a standard, ultra-wide, and telephoto lens, with a 32MP front camera for selfies.

The OnePlus 15 will be available in Sand Dune, Absolute Black, and Misty Purple, with variants going up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.

If these early specifications are anything to go by, OnePlus seems intent on reclaiming its performance-first identity. Whether it can translate the specs into everyday refinement will be clear soon enough, but for now, the OnePlus 15 looks like one of the most technically ambitious Android flagships of the year.
