What if your sunglasses could place calls or play a song for you? Well, now they can!

Ray-Ban Meta glasses will soon be able to place hands-free video calls with its latest update

Meta, in collaboration with Ray-Ban, introduced smart glasses early this year and it wasn’t long before the company threw in a software v2 update for its users. Just in time for the sunglasses season, Meta has announced another expansion to its Ray-Ban x Meta smart glasses series with style, as well as a software update.

This time around, wearable is not just getting an overhaul but will soon be able to carry out more tasks hands-free for you.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses: What's new?

Ray-Ban’s smart glasses use Augmented Reality technology to run tasks such as video recording or photo capture, but a new update by Meta will now add a bunch of other upgrades and artificial intelligence to them. Here are three new features that you will soon be able to make the most of.

Share your view on video calls

The next time you’re vacationing on a beach, you might just be able to record or share the view in front of you on a WhatsApp or Messenger video call. Meta has also ensured this functionality remains hands-free, meaning you could share your ‘POV’ without the hassle of handling a smartphone.

Meta AI integration

Meta AI has been all the talk lately and platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp have begun to roll out in-app chatbots that can answer your queries. However, Meta has now extended this functionality to the smart glasses that can carry out tasks based on only a “Hey Meta!”.

You can use voice commands to get answers, suggestions or news. And, say you have been travelling and you come across an unfamiliar sign, you can even ask Meta to translate what is in front of you using its built-in camera.

New frames for every face

Lastly, Meta has given the smart glasses a design upgrade and has incorporated it with new Skyler Frames. New styles now come suited for smaller faces and users can also choose a Headliner low-bridge option to stop glasses from sliding down the nose. In fact, Ray-Ban has also equipped hundreds of different custom frame and lens combinations on its website that users can mix or match to create a unique style for themselves.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses: What are some other features?

Ray-Ban Meta glasses come with a 12MP ultrawide camera along with a five-mic system that you can use to capture quality media. You have a functional capture button on the side to help you share your view with your friends on the go.

The smart glasses also have an open-ear speaker which allows you to enjoy music without losing the ambient surrounding sounds. The glasses sport a touchpad to play, pause and launch apps like Spotify. Lastly, the smart glasses come with 36 hours of battery life with a four-hour charge time.

The smart glasses are priced starting at $299 (roughly Rs 25,000) but are currently not available for purchase in India. However, you can place your orders globally through Ray-Ban’s official website to get them shipped to you.
