Xiaomi has unveiled its latest addition to the Redmi number series in India – the Redmi 15 5G. True to the Redmi ethos, this new budget contender is built around size, stamina, and undeniable value. For those seeking a large display, long-lasting battery, and dependable performance without stretching their budget, the Redmi 15 5G arrives as one of the season’s most compelling choices.
It follows the success of the Redmi 13 5G, as its true successor. Don’t look for a Redmi 14 5G, though, as the company skipped it and went straight to the Redmi 15 5G (although they did launch the Note 14 series). Here’s everything you need to know about the latest launch from the house of Redmi.
Redmi 15 5G: Specs and features
With a massive 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD display running at a buttery 144Hz, Xiaomi claims the Redmi 15 5G houses the largest screen in its segment, designed for people who want a phone that’s excellent for content consumption. TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, circadian friendliness, and flicker-free performance give it some eye-care credibility too, especially if you’re someone who scrolls late into the night.
Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 with up to 8GB of RAM (plus another 8GB of virtual RAM). Photography is handled by a 50MP primary camera paired with a secondary sensor, while selfies and video calls are left to an 8MP front shooter. The software side is sorted with Android 15 topped with HyperOS 2, promising two major Android updates and four years of security patches.
If the giant display didn’t give it away, the Redmi 15 5G is all about going big, and that includes battery life. A 7,000mAh cell, the largest in its class and built with silicon-carbon tech, means days of use without reaching for the charger. Xiaomi claims it’s engineered for 1600 charge cycles and still holds up to 80 per cent capacity after four years. There’s 33W fast charging when you do need to top up, and even 18W reverse wired charging if you want to juice up your earbuds or another device.

The design adds a dash of industrial flair with what Xiaomi calls the “segment’s only aerospace-grade metal island,” while durability gets a nod with IP64 dust and splash resistance. You also get Dolby-certified audio, a bottom-firing loudspeaker, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and the usual Redmi extras like an IR blaster.
Redmi 15 5G: Price and availability
The phone lands in three finishes, including Midnight Black, Frosted Black, and Sandy Purple. It will be available for purchase from August 28 across e-commerce platforms, Mi.com, and retail stores. Pricing is competitive, as always, starting at Rs 14,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, going up to Rs 16,999 for the 8GB + 256GB option. For those looking for a slightly cheaper option, the Redmi 13 5G is now available at just Rs 13,999. The Realme 14x is also another decent option at Rs 15K.
Coming back to the Redmi 15, it looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the strongest contenders under Rs 15K. What do you think of Redmi’s latest budget bet? Drop a comment with your thoughts, and stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for the latest tech updates.
