Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G design, key specs confirmed
The Galaxy M17e 5G will arrive in two colour options called Vibe Violet and Blitz Blue. The smartphone measures around 8.2mm in thickness and features a reinforced polymer panel, which has a glass-like appeal. It also carries an IP54 rating, offering protection against dust and minor water splashes.
On the front, the handset features a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen supports Adaptive Brightness and High Brightness Mode, which helps adjust the brightness automatically depending on surrounding lighting conditions. The overall display setup is designed to provide smoother scrolling and improved visibility.
Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor. This is now staple chip for almost all entry-level 5G phones in the Indian market.
The Galaxy M17e 5G will run on One UI 8 based on Android 16. Samsung has confirmed long-term support for the handset, promising six generations of Android upgrades along with six years of security updates. Such extended software support is relatively uncommon in the affordable smartphone segment.
The interface also includes several new features such as Now Bar, which displays real-time updates on the lock screen, and Live Notifications for ongoing tasks. It also integrates Google Gemini AI features and Circle to Search functionality for quick on-screen searches.
For photography, the smartphone features a 50MP primary rear camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor designed for portrait shots. On the front, the device includes an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The handset packs a 6,000mAh battery, which is expected to support long usage for activities such as streaming, browsing, and social media. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
