A closer look at Samsung’s newest offering

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 announced with 10.4-inch display

Tablets are a bit of a jack of all trades, bearing in mind how they combine the simplicity and ease-of-use of a smartphone’s OS and its portability, along with the viewing experience and functionality of a laptop. For the longest time though, tablets have been considered synonymous with iPads.

However, in the past year or two, several Android tablet manufacturers have increasingly been trying to snatch Apple’s share in the market. One such manufacturer, and perhaps its biggest rival is Samsung. And it has just unveiled its latest budget offering, presumably aimed at students and young professionals, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024). Here’s all you need to know.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024): Features and key specifications

Here is all that you need to know about the 2024 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2204) is powered by the Exynos 1280 chipset developed in-house by Samsung and gets 4GB of RAM. There are two storage variants on offer – one with 64GB of storage and another with 128 GB.

However, this can be expanded on both models by up to 1TB, via a microSD card. In addition to this, the tablet can also be had in a Wi-Fi only as well as a higher-end LTE variant.

Battery

It packs a fairly large 7,040mAh battery, which means it should more than easily last a user all day. On the flip side though, it gets only 15W wired fast charging, which means it may take a fair bit of time to charge, should it happen to run out of juice.

Display and audio

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite gets a 10.4-inch TFT WUXGA+ display, which makes it more than suited equally for multi-tasking at work and watching a movie or gaming. The fact that it gets S-Pen support means it’s great for taking notes at college, or generally doodling away in your free time.

All of this, when coupled with dual AKG surround sound speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, makes the tablet an even more appealing proposition.

Cameras

Coming to optics though, the new Android tablet from Samsung gets a fairly modest camera setup, which consists of an 8MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front, for selfies and video calls. While this should suffice for most users, the tablet may not exactly be a photographer’s delight.

Connectivity

Connectivity options on the tablet include Wi-Fi 802.11 as well as Bluetooth 5.3 support on the Wi-Fi-only variant, with LTE connectivity added on the higher-end variant.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024): Pricing and availability

The 2024 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite gets a fully metallic body, in three colourways – Oxford Gray, Chiffon Pink, and Mint colours. The latest tablet from Samsung has currently only been listed on the company’s website in select regions, and there has been no word on when it will be launched in several other international markets including India, if at all.
