With over a dozen smartphone brands and sub-brands in India, deciding which phone to buy next can be quite a challenge. To be fair, most devices in a particular price bracket are interchangeable and choices largely come down to personal preference and design.
This list, however, will help you make a more informed decision the next time you’re shopping for a smartphone.
List of all brands available in India
Apple: One of the most sought-after brands in the country, and with good reason. Apple devices are expensive but offer an unmatched ecosystem, superb build quality, and arguably the best UI experience in the business. They also happen to be a class apart when it comes to video quality and performance. They also last forever and phones are supported for nearly a decade.

Samsung: There literally is a Samsung for every budget. On the flagship side of things, Samsung is the brand you go to when you want bleeding edge tech, foldables, powerful zoom, and excellent design. Samsung’s ecosystem is also great.
Google: Rounding out the top three brands is Google and its Pixel line-up. While its service network is iffy, Pixel phones boast of incredible AI and photography capabilities, tight integration with Google services, and a smooth, clutter-free OS.
ASUS: If the best of the best gaming phone is what you seek, then ASUS’s ROG phones are probably what you’re after. ASUS phones are not just performance, they’re among the few brands to offer a purely gaming focused design.
Vivo: This brand makes surprisingly capable smartphone cameras that can give even Google a run for its money. Their selfie cameras are especially great and usually a cut above everything else on the market.

OnePlus: With something of a cult following in the country, OnePlus is known for offering flagship performance, a highly customisable OS, and great design.
Xiaomi: Initially establishing a name for itself as an affordable Android phone maker, Xiaomi is now making waves with a great range of flagships and all-rounders.
Motorola: This one’s a bit of an underdog as it’s often overshadowed by more prominent brands. However, Motorola is one of the few brands that offers a near-stock Android experience in a good, value-for-money chassis.
Redmi: A Xiaomi sub-brand focusing on budget devices, these phones stand out for their affordability and surprisingly powerful hardware.
Poco: Another Xiaomi sub-brand, but one that’s focused on gaming performance at affordable prices.

Oppo: Think of Oppo devices as a hybrid between OnePlus and Vivo, but in a luxury shell. The devices look great, feature excellent cameras, and offer performance on par with the best.
Nothing: A brand that stands out thanks to its unique and stylish designs, Nothing and sub-brand CMF are the devices to get if you care about a clean OS and how your smartphone looks.
iQoo: A Vivo sub-brand, this one focuses on gaming performance and eye-catching design.
Realme: Offering excellent value thanks to feature-packed phones and premium design, this brand tends to appeal to a more youthful audience.
Sony: While a known brand offering fantastic smartphone cameras and displays, the brand’s presence is surprisingly muted in the country.

Micromax, Lava: Both brands bank on ‘make-in-India’ appeal and offer excellent devices at very affordable prices. They have a strong service network in tier 2/3 cities.
Lenovo, Lava, iTel, Infinix: All of these brands are relatively small and tend to focus on budget devices in tier 2/3 cities. They offer great value for those who don’t wish to spend more than a bare minimum on their devices.
