Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra launches in India with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Leica cameras

The Xiaomi 17 series has officially made its debut in India shortly after its global unveiling at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. The lineup includes the standard Xiaomi 17 and the flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra, bringing top-tier hardware, upgraded Leica-powered cameras, and next-generation performance to the Indian market.

Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra: Specs and features

The Xiaomi 17 series delivers a significant leap in raw performance and efficiency by featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The standard Xiaomi 17 targets enthusiasts of compact flagships with its 6.3-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, which supports a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness levels reaching 4,000 nits.

Despite its smaller footprint, it houses a staggering 7,000mAh battery using high-density silicon-carbon technology, paired with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging to ensure industry-leading endurance.

Stepping up to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, it flaunts a larger 6.9-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED screen protected by the new Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 for enhanced drop resistance. The camera array is the star of the show, featuring a 1-inch 50MP Light Fusion 1050L main sensor with a physical variable aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a groundbreaking 200MP periscope telephoto lens.

This setup allows for incredible detail at long range and a continuous optical zoom that bridges the gap between focal lengths seamlessly. For selfies, it has an autofocus-enabled 50MP front camera.

On the software front, both models debut HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. The series is promised to receive six years of HyperOS upgrades and security updates. The Ultra houses a 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra: Price and availability

The Xiaomi 17 series is positioned firmly in the ultra-premium segment with a price structure that reflects its high-end hardware. The Xiaomi 17 is priced at at Rs 89,999 for the 12GB+256GB base variant and Rs 99,99 for the 12GB+512GB edition, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at Rs 139,999 for the sole 16GB+512GB configuration.

The Xiaomi 17 comes in black, blue, and green options and will go on sale starting March 13. Between March 13 and 17, early bird buyers will be able to get the 512GB version at the price of the 256GB edition.  Additionally, the brand is offering a Phone Damage Protection Plan worth Rs. 9,999 for the buyers of Xiaomi 17 during the said period.

Customers using an SBI credit card can avail a bank offer of up to Rs. 10,000 on the 17 Ultra’s purchase. Additionally, those who buy the device during the early bird sale period between March 13 and March 17 will receive the Xiaomi Professional Photography Kit Pro, valued at Rs. 19,999, bundled with the phone at no extra charge. It will go on sale in black and white shades.

Both phones will be up for purchase starting March 18 through online and offline channels.
