As expected, the Xiaomi Pad 8 debuted in India today. The newest tablet arrives as the successor to the last year’s Xiaomi Pad 7 with some notable upgrades. The Indian model is identical to the Xiaomi Pad 8 that’s available in China since last September. Tomorrow, the brand is set to unveil the Xiaomi 17 series in the country. 

Xiaomi Pad 8 specifications and features

The Xiaomi Pad 8 retains the same 11.2-inch LCD display with a 3.2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate from its predecessor. It is offered in standard and nano-textured screen variants with the later designed to reduce glare and reflections while offering a paper-like feel. The tablet has the same design although, Xiaomi has managed to trim the thickness to 5.75mm from 6.18mm on the Pad 7.

Internally, the Xiaomi Pad 8 is powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. It was released in late 2024 but is a significant upgrade from the mid-range Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 on the Pad 7. The device packs up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is backed by a larger 9,200mAh battery cell that can be topped vi a 45W charger. The tablet ships with 67W charger in box.

Software-wise, the Xiaomi Pad 8 ships with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box. It comes with PC-level apps, wireless secondary screen support, Apple cross-platform file transfer, 9-grid workstation layout, split-screen multitasking, dynamic widgets etc. The tablet also features desktop-style browsing, multi-window support, PIP mode, and extension compatibility. 

On the optics front, the Xiaomi Pad 8 borrows the 13MP and 8MP front and rear cameras respectively as the last year’s model. There are quad-speakers with Dolby Atmos and AI features like real-time transcription, voice print extraction, etc. Connectivity options on the device include WiFi-7, Bluetooth 6, USB-C port, and Miracast. 

The Xiaomi Pad 8 is also compatible with a floating keyboard that has backlit mechanical keys and a touchpad and multi-gesture support. The brand has upgraded its stylus now called the Focus Touch Pen Pro. It removes physical buttons and comes with gesture controls, hover preview, haptic feedback, and support for third-party apps. 

Xiaomi Pad 8 pricing and availability

The Xiaomi Pad 8 starts at Rs 33,999 for the base 8GB + 128GB model and 12GB + 256GB configuration costs Rs 36,999. The Focus keyboard and Focus Touch Pen Pro are priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 5,999 respectively.  SBI cardholders can avail Rs 3,000 discount on credit card and EMI transactions.

It will be available for purchase from Xiaomi’s website, Amazon, and retail partners across the country starting March 17.
