How to edit captions for photos, videos on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has been rather active lately, having unveiled a slew of new features. Well, they seem to be showing no signs of slowing down and have just unveiled their latest addition to the app – the ability to edit captions on photos and videos.

With this new feature, users will now have the ability to edit the captions on photos, videos, GIFs and documents. What’s more, they can edit the caption within 15 minutes of sending the message. The feature has been introduced in line with the edit messages feature. The latter was first rolled out in May, which helped users correct any typos they may have made in their texts.

How to check if you have received the feature yet

As per WaBetaInfo, this feature has already begun rolling out for users on the latest version of WhatsApp on both, iOS and Android. Here’s how to check if you have the feature.

1. Update WhatsApp on your smartphone to the latest version

2. Send an image/video, or even a document or GIF to someone. Ensure you include a caption as well.

3. Once sent, long press on the message to edit it.

4. In case the edit option appears for the message, you’re all set.

In case you don’t see the edit option though, fret not. You should receive it in the coming days.

Other WhatsApp features to look out for

WhatsApp recently has placed an increased emphasis on the ease of sharing media on the platform. Just recently, it introduced the ability to share HD photos on the app, with a higher resolution of 4096 x 2692 pixels, compared to the standard 1600 x 1052 pixels. It has also introduced AI-generated stickers, to further liven up conversations as well as provide for a more personalised experience.

That’s not all though. WhatsApp has also added screen-sharing capabilities and landscape support for video calls on the app, in a bid to take on more mainstream video conferencing apps such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Zoom.
