Continuing yesterday’s launch of iPhone 17e, and iPad Air M4, Apple has now unveiled the MacBook Pro with the company’s latest silicon. Last October, the Cupertino-based tech giant introduced the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 SoC. The latest laptop focusses on significant hardware and performance upgrades.
Apple refreshes its MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro comes in 14.2 and 16.2-inch screen sizes. It features Liquid Retina XDR display with 1,600 nits peak brightness for outdoor viewing, and it can go down to 1nit in dark environments. The screen also comes with ProMotion with a refresh rate up to 120Hz for smoother viewing. The newly announced laptop is also offered with an optional nano-texture display for reflection and glare-free viewing.

The latest MacBooks have a 12MP camera with an advanced six-speaker system and a three-mic array. There are Centre Stage and Desk View features.
Under the hood, the MacBook Pro 14 and 16-inch variants can be configured with either the M5 Pro or M5 Max processors. Furthermore, the M5 Pro comes in 15-core CPU + 16-core GPU or 18-core CPU + 20-core GPU options. Meanwhile, the M5 Max gets 18-core CPU + 32-core GPU and 18-core CPU + 40-Core GPU processing power options.
Apple says that these processors deliver a tremendous performance boost and a higher unified memory bandwidth. The M5 Pro chipset starts with 24GB base RAM maxing out at 64GB. On the other hand, the 32-core and 40-core GPU options on the M5 Max start with 36GB and 48GB unified RAM with options up to 128GB. Apple has also bumped the base storage on the M5 Pro and M5 Max to 1TB and 2TB SSDs, respectively.
The MacBook Pro 14 and 16-inch also come with Apple’s N1 chipset for WiFi-7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. There are three Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, and an headphone jack.
The newest M5 Pro and M5 Max-powered MacBook Pros ship with macOS Tahoe with Apple Intelligence features.
MacBook Pro pricing and availability
The MacBook Pro 14-inch starts at Rs 2,49,900 while the 16-inch costs Rs 2,99,900 for the M5 Pro chipset. The same display options for the M5 Max carry a price tag of Rs 3,99,900 and Rs 4,29,900. A nano-texture display option will cost you Rws 15,000 more. The laptop comes in Space Black and Silver colours.
The MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and Max chips will go up for pre-orders tomorrow with shipments begining March 11.,
