One of the core aims of AI is to make our daily tasks easier, and Google’s latest update reflects this perfectly. The company has introduced several new shopping tools and features, all accessible through the Google Search’s AI Mode and Gemini AI app, effectively turning it into a smarter and more capable shopping assistant.
AI-powered improvements in Google Search
The biggest change arrives in Google Search, where the new AI mode now understands natural phrases instead of relying on filters or precise keywords. The results displayed in AI mode will adapt to the user’s question and the format they prefer. This means AI-generated results will now include visual suggestions, price details, availability information and user insights, all neatly organised to match the context of the search.

AI mode is powered by Google’s Shopping Graph, which tracks billions of products and updates them constantly to ensure users always get accurate and current information.
Smarter shopping through the Gemini app
The Gemini app can now offer ideas, compare prices, and provide direct purchase links within a single conversation. This allows users to plan purchases or build holiday lists without switching between apps or browser tabs. Here too, the Shopping Graph plays a key role, presenting information in a way that helps users make quicker decisions.
Google has also enhanced its agentic capabilities to make shopping more convenient. When a user searches for an item with a “near me” query, they may now see an option that allows Google to call nearby stores on their behalf. The system collects details such as pricing, availability, and ongoing offers, then delivers the results to the user via email or text message.
Another new feature lets users set a specific budget for a product and receive alerts when the price drops. In some situations, Google can even complete the purchase automatically after the user confirms their details, adding a new level of convenience while maintaining security.
