Highguard currencies guide: How to earn them and what they are used for

Highguard may be a free-to-play FPS, but like most games in the genre, it comes with a set of in-game currencies you can use to unlock in-game content. Highguard currencies are used purely for cosmetics and unlockables, and they don’t affect damage, abilities, or match outcomes. You can earn them by playing regular matches, completing challenges, or through optional premium purchases, and the currency system simply gives you something to work toward as you play.

If you’ve been hopping into matches and seeing currencies pile up without knowing what they’re for, we’ll help break it all down for you. Here’s how you can earn Highguard currencies and what they’re used for.

Highguard Currencies Guide: How to Earn Them and What They are Used For

Highguard has three main currencies, and each one serves a different purpose for unlocking rewards, without giving any gameplay advantage. As we mentioned already, they’re used strictly for cosmetics and unlockables, so they won’t make your character stronger or give you an edge in matches. Here’s a look at all Highguard currencies and how you can use them.

Highguard Gold

Highguard Gold is the game’s premium currency, and it’s the only one you can’t earn through normal gameplay. You’ll have to buy it with real money in the in-game store, where you can choose from different bundles depending on how much you want to spend.

Highguard Gold is mainly used to obtain premium cosmetics or unlock certain War Chests, which act like Highguard’s battle pass system. There’s no limit on Highguard Gold since it’s tied to purchases, and nothing bought with it affects gameplay.

Warden Credits

Warden Credits are the main free-to-earn currency. You get them by playing matches and completing daily or weekly challenges, which you can track in the Challenges section of the Headwall tab. Just participating in matches counts, whether you win or lose.

You can spend Warden Credits at the Trading Post, a rotating cosmetic shop that refreshes weekly with character skins, weapon skins, charms, banners, and more. They’re capped at 10,000, so it’s a good idea to check the Trading Post regularly and spend them before you hit the limit.

Vigil Tokens

Vigil Tokens are another free currency earned by playing matches. Longer matches usually give more Tokens, but you don’t need to complete specific objectives to earn them.

These Tokens are used only in War Chests to unlock reward tiers. You can hold up to 3,000 Vigil Tokens, and once you reach that, you won’t earn more until you spend some of your Vigil Tokens.
