Having all your photos and videos on an Instagram sounds like a great idea. Not only do you now have all your assorted media laid out on a platform where most of your friends, family and other peers already are, but you also don’t need to worry about the storage. That said, every now and then, you may still want to download all the media you have uploaded to Instagram over the years.
This could be before deleting/deactivating the account, using the media for other photo/video projects like compilations or just for general safe-keeping, However, Instagram has no straightforward option to do this. Here’s a step-by-step guide that will help you out instead.
How to download your Instagram content
Step 1: Open Instagram on the iPhone app, Android phone app or on the web, and go to your profile. Open the Menu on the right by tapping/clicking on the three-line menu, and choose Settings.
Step 2: Navigate to Meta Accounts Centre > Your Information and Permissions > Download Your Information.
Step 3: Choose the Download or Transfer Information option next, and choose your Instagram account in the next screen.
Step 4: You can now choose ‘All Available Information’ or ‘Some of Your Information’. If you only need your media, you can choose the latter. Next, choose ‘Content’ from the ‘Your Instagram activity’ section.
Step 5: You can now choose to download the content to your device or transfer it to your Google Drive account. Choose how far back you want the download to be and select the ‘Create Files’/’Start Transfer’ option.
Now all you have to do is wait, and your content files should be downloaded in the destination you chose. Stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for more tips and tricks like this, and all things tech.
