How to improve the sound quality of your speakers

Three easy ways to get a better sound output from your speakers

How to improve the sound quality of your speakers

Be it the pair of speakers attached to your TV or the portable ones you carry with you on all your trips, speakers are important devices in all our lives. They help us carry our favourite tracks wherever we go, or simply immerse in our playlists when at home. That’s all the more reason you should take all necessary steps to ensure your speakers output the best possible sound quality all the time.

However, if that isn’t the case, and if you’re feeling like your speakers aren’t sounding up to the mark, here’s a few things you can do about it.

Clean your speakers

Dust, dirt and other forms of debris can get in the way of your sound experience when using speakers, especially outdoor Bluetooth speakers. Unwanted particles can block out sound partially, giving an output that may feel unbalanced or muted. Cleaning your speakers is the way to go in this case, as once these unwanted particles are removed, you will likely see an improvement in the sound quality.

Try new positions

For indoor speakers small and large, correct positioning is often an overlooked element. However, most speakers need to be placed and angled correctly to make the most of them. Not only does this include the correct distance between the speakers and seating, but also other factors like the height and the angles the speakers are placed at. Fix these on your own, or with some professional help to get better sound.

Use the equaliser

Your taste in music may change over a long period of time. However, most people don’t upgrade their audio hardware to keep up with varying tastes in music. A speaker that’s tuned for crisp vocals and high frequencies, will perform very poorly when subjected to bass-heavy hip-hop music. If your speakers or input device support an equaliser setting, now may be the time to play around with it to tune the sound to your liking.

Those are three easy ways to improve the sound quality of your speakers. Other steps such as regular cleaning and delicate handling can prolong the life your speakers over time. If you’re still unsatisfied with the performance of your speakers, it may be time to get professional help, or consider an upgrade. If you think it’s the latter, definitely be on the lookout for signs that it’s time to change your speakers.
