Retro gaming on iPhones is now possible and simpler than ever

How to play retro games on your iPhone with the Delta emulator

Remember the good old days before everyone had a Sony PlayStation 5, when games on handheld consoles would be the definitive form of gaming? Classic titles from Spider-Man to a plethora of Pokémon titles would be some of the most popular games on devices like the Nintendo DS, the Game Boy, or any other console of the era.

Thankfully, technology has made it possible for many of these games to be playable on your iPhone in a few easy steps. With a new app called ‘Delta-Game Emulator’, anyone can download a ROM of any retro game they want to play and get gaming on their smartphones in seconds.

Excited? Awesome! Let’s begin with checking out how you can install these retro games on your iPhone in minutes. Let’s go!

How to get Delta-Game Emulator

Make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network or a mobile data plan with enough bandwidth to spare, and head to Apple’s App Store. Search for “Delta” and you should see Delta-Game Emulator pop up within the first few search results.

Tap on get and the app should begin installing. While you wait for the emulator to install, let’s understand the next step in the process – sourcing your games. The emulator that you just downloaded is just a middleman that will help you run games originally developed for other devices. To actually play these games, you will need the game’s files, also known as the ROM files.

How to get ROM files for games

Now, there are multiple ways to get ROM files, but do note that most of these are unofficial approaches. Since these games were originally made for devices like the Game Boy or the Nintendo DS, there is, strictly speaking, no “legal way” to get the ROM files of your favourite games.

If you’re okay with using these unofficial sites for ROM files, you can use websites like emulatorgames.net or any other platform where you can find ROM files to proceed. Simply find the game you want to play and download the file for it, which usually is a zip file.

Once done, head back to the Delta app and from the main screen, find the plus-shaped icon on the top right. Next, choose the ‘Files’ option and you will be able to add game files that you downloaded locally on your phone. When you open Delta next time, you will come straight to this screen where all your games are available in one place.

Exciting as it may sound, it would be wrong of us not to add a disclaimer. The games or ROMs that you need to download are not via an official channel. Hence, we advise caution before going ahead and downloading any game on your iPhone.
