Marathon Open Beta: List of rewards and how to unlock them

After a long and occasionally bumpy road to release, Marathon is finally opening its doors to everyone. Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter game is running an open beta, officially called the Server Slam, and yes, there’s loot on the line.

The Marathon open beta is not just a technical test. Bungie is using the Server Slam to stress test its servers ahead of launch, and to reward players who show up early. Unlike previous closed tests, this one is open to everyone, so there is no sign-up lottery or exclusive invite needed.

So, if you are planning to drop in during the beta release window, here is exactly how to unlock every reward available at this time, and what you need to do to secure them before the full launch on March 5.

Marathon Open Beta: List of rewards and how to unlock

The rewards are tied to progression. That means you need to complete early missions and push your Runner Level high enough before the beta ends. Once the rewards are unlocked, these items will carry over to the full release. But, if you want the best tier of rewards, you will need to put in some time.

The Marathon Server Slam runs from February 26 to March 2, 2026. During that window, your goal is simple:

– Complete the introduction
– Finish the first mission
– Level up your Runner rank
– Reach Level 30 if you want everything

Here is how the reward tiers break down.

Completing the Introduction Mission unlocks:

– Unique Emblem
– Player Background

This is the easiest reward tier. Finish the intro mission and the cosmetics are yours. Think of it as proof you were there from day one.

Completing the First Mission unlocks:

– Standard Arrival Cache
– 6x Standard Implants
– 4x Standard Runner Shell Cores
– 6x Standard Weapon Chip Mods
– Overline (Weapon)
– Hardline (Weapon)

This tier gives you a solid starter bundle. You will need to finish the first proper mission, which should not take long if you are focused.

Reaching Runner Level 10 unlocks:

– Enhanced Arrival Cache (Green)
– 6x Enhanced Implants
– 12x Enhanced Runner Shell Cores
– 4x Enhanced Weapon Chip Mods
– Enhanced Magnum
– Enhanced Hardline

Level 10 is where things get interesting. The Enhanced gear tier offers better variants of core equipment. Expect to spend a few solid sessions getting here, especially if you are experimenting with builds.

Reaching Runner Level 30 unlocks:

– Deluxe Arrival Cache (Blue)
– 3x Deluxe Implants
– 3x Enhanced Implants
– 6x Deluxe Runner Shell Cores
– 6x Enhanced Runner Shell Cores
– 2x Deluxe Weapon Chip Mods
– 2x Enhanced Weapon Chip Mods
– Deluxe Magnum
– Enhanced Volley Rifle
– Deluxe Base Backpack

This is the big one. Hitting Level 30 during a limited-time beta will take commitment. If you want the exclusive Deluxe Base Backpack and the top-tier weapons, you will need to grind efficiently. Focus on completing missions cleanly and staying alive in extractions. Dying repeatedly will slow your progress.

The full release of Marathon is scheduled for March 5, 2026. Any rewards earned during the open beta will carry over into the main game.
