Realme 16 Pro, Pro+ confirmed to receive OS updates up to Android 20

In January, Realme unveiled the Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ smartphones in India. Both devices were initially confirmed to receive three years of Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates. Today, the brand surprised its fans by extending software support for these phones by a couple more years.

Realme 16 Pro series’ updated Android upgrade policy announced

Realme has confirmed that the Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ will now receive four years of Android OS upgrades. Considering that both phones ship with Realme UI 7 based on Android 16, these devices are now confirmed to receive updates up to Android 20.

Additionally, Realme 16 Pro series users will get six years of security updates. According to the brand, this announcement is in line with the evolving product roadmap and overall value enhancements introduced for the lineup.

Realme will soon roll out an OTA update for both phones to enable the extended software support. With this move, the 16 Pro series become even more future-ready, offering longer usability and improved long-term value for buyers.

The Realme 16 Pro series’ closest rivals, the Redmi Note 15 and Note 15 Pro+, also come with four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. However, the Redmi models come preloaded with HyperOS 3 based on Android 15.

Realme 16 Pro series at a glance

The Realme 16 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, whereas the 16 Pro+ has a slightly bigger 6.8-inch AMOLED panel. Both screens offer a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Realme 16 Pro series is equipped with a 50MP front-facing camera. The rear camera setup on both phones includes a 200MP main camera with OIS support and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Being the Pro+ edition, it also features a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS support.

The Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ are powered by the Dimensity 7300 Max and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipsets, respectively. Both devices offer LPDDR4x (16 Pro) / LPDDR5x (16 Pro+) RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 7,000mAh battery with 80W charging support. These devices carry starting prices of Rs 30,999 and Rs 35,999, respectively.
