Samsung has lately been working towards capturing the lion’s share in the budget and mid-range smartphone segment, with offerings such as the Galaxy A15, A35, and A55 5G smartphones. And now, it has unveiled yet another offering in the segment. Namely, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G.

Here’s all you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy M55, which has just been announced in Brazil for now.

Performance and battery

For starters, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.  It also gets expandable storage up to 1TB, via a microSD card. The M55 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery unit, which seems to have become a bit of a norm across segments these days. It also gets 45W fast charging support.

Display and audio

Coming to the display, it sports a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.

For audio, there is a dual stereo-speaker setup, with support for Dolby Atmos. What’s cool is, it also gets a voice focus feature, which can suppress ambient sounds such that sound quality on calls and audio recordings remains unharmed.

Cameras

Coming to optics, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G gets a triple camera setup at the rear, with a 50MP primary sensor with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor, housed in a vertical layout.

Perhaps the highlight of the camera setup on the phone though, is a 50MP sensor on the front for video calls and selfies, housed in a punch-hole cutout.

Connectivity

Connectivity options on Samsung’s latest mid-range smartphone include Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi-6, as well as GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS support, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. For security, it gets an in-display fingerprint scanner. On offer is also virtual proximity sensing capabilities.

Software

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G comes running on Android 14-based One UI 6.1 straight out of the box and will get four years of software updates and five years of security updates.

The Samsung Galaxy is available in two colourways – Light Green and Dark Blue. The sole 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant of the phone is priced at R$ (Brazilian Real) 2,699 (approximately Rs 45,000).

Bear in mind though, that the phone has only been announced in Brazil for now. While an India launch is imminent, the dates for the same, as well as the specs and pricing of the device here, remain under wraps for now. Hopefully, we should get to know more in the coming days.
