Some of Samsung’s most popular smartphones in India are the Galaxy A-series and Galaxy M-series, which are functional, but boring when it comes to aesthetics and flaunt-value. What you’d usually recognise the South Korean tech giant for, are the unconventional, innovative phones the brand makes. The latest of these are the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5. Here’s everything to know about the new foldables.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5: Top features and specifications

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 comes with a more compact design and an IPX8 rating for protection against water. It now features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and comes with a new Flex Hinge that lets the phone fold completely flat. While you can still fold and unfold the phone with one hand to quickly show it off to your friends, the phone’s water resistance means it’s easier to use by the beach.

The new device is also the lightest Galaxy Fold yet, which coupled with its compact folded form, means you can always have it on you, irrespective of the occasion. The Galaxy Z Fold5 also features multi-window support, drag-and-drop, and more multitasking features that will help you get more done when you’re on the move. Features include a new taskbar that helps users move between apps faster than ever. Samsung has also announced the new and improved S-Pen Fold Edition that easily fits in the Galaxy Z Fold5’s case and is available in a second when you need it for more creative tasks.

Specifications of the Fold5 include a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate for the folding, internal screen. For the outer display, there is a 6.2-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED display that’s great for everything from movies and games to productivity. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, which makes it powerful enough to handle anything you throw at it. A 4,400mAh battery also keeps the phone up all day, and Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 brings you Samsung’s best software features.

The 4MP under-display camera on the internal display makes a comeback, but for when you’re using the outer screen, there is also another 10MP front camera. This versatile setup makes the Fold5 great for all occasions from indoor birthday bashes to outdoor barbecue nights, irrespective of whether the phone is folded or opened up.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 also features NFC support, Wi-Fi 6E and a USB 3.2 Type-C port, which make it a great overall package. The phone will be available in three sleek colours – Phantom Black, Cream and Icy Blue.
