Apple MacBook Neo launches with an iPhone chip, 13-inch display and 16 hour battery life

Since Monday, Apple has been announcing new devices. It began with iPhone 17e and M4-powered iPad Air (8th Gen), followed by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chip powered MacBook Pro models, the MacBook Air equipped with M5, Studio Display, and Studio Display XDR.

Today, the company has announced the long-rumoured entry-level MacBook dubbed the MacBook Neo with an enticing starting price of Rs 69,990.

Apple MacBook Neo: Specs and features

The MacBook Neo marks Apple’s attempt at making the Mac ecosystem accessible to a wider audience, especially students, families, and first-time Mac users. It features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 x 1506 pixels, and up to 500 nits brightness. The panel supports one billion colours and includes an anti-reflective coating for comfortable viewing in different lighting conditions.

Powering the laptop is the A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. It includes a 6-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, paired with a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine for AI tasks.

Apple claims the laptop can deliver up to 50 per cent faster everyday performance compared to a popular Intel Core Ultra 5 powered PC, while AI workloads can run up to three times faster. The machine ships with 8GB unified memory and storage options up to 512GB.

The MacBook Neo carries a fanless aluminium design that weighs around 1.23kg, making it easy to carry for everyday use. It packs a 36.5Wh battery that is rated to last up to 16 hours of video streaming.

Other features include a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones with directional beamforming, and dual speakers with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support. Connectivity options include two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.

Apple MacBook Neo: Price and availability

Apple has priced the MacBook Neo starting at Rs 69,990 for the 256GB storage variant, while the 512GB model costs Rs 79,990. Students can avail education pricing that lowers the starting price to Rs 59,900. The laptop is offered in four colour options including Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo.

Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo are now live through Apple’s official website and the Apple Store app in several regions. The laptop will begin reaching customers and retail stores from March 11, 2026.
